In the coming days we will issue information related to the virtual event with details on how you can easily participate from the comfort of your own home.

Meet Our Honorees

Recipients of the William "Jazz" Jones Brightest Star Award

Finn and Kim Wentworth

 

Kim Wentworth is a lifelong resident and philanthropist of New Jersey, and has led many important philanthropic activities and grassroots efforts serving our State and related causes throughout the United States. Her community driven pursuits are focused on four particular areas of concern, the natural environment, early childhood education, humanitarian, and primary care medical initiatives. Kim also serves as the Trustee of the Wentworth Family Charitable Funds. Kim serves as a Board Member for the Community Foundation of New Jersey. She has served as a Commissioner of the Morris County Parks, which is responsible for all planning and budgeting aspects of their 18,700-acre portfolio of properties and public recreational programming, serving over 3.5 million visitors a year. In addition, Kim has served on the Open Space Trust Fund, the Board of the Trust for Public Land, and is a benefactor to Friends of Acadia National Park, GSWA, and the NRDC. Her dedication to primary medical care has been evidenced by over 30 years supporting Morristown Medical Center’s community and the Woman’s Association, as well as the Women’s Philanthropic Council. Kim’s particular area of interest is in women’s medical care, including OB/GYN needs for underserved women in our community.
Finn Wentworth is an investor in businesses that have included commercial real estate, media and sports ventures. He is a past President and Chief Operating Officer of YankeeNets, LLC and a founder of the YES Network, a regional sports network with over 22 million subscribers. He also served on the boards of the YankeeNets and the National Basketball Association as well as the team boards of the New York Yankees, the New Jersey Nets and the New Jersey Devils. During his tenure with YankeeNets, the New York Yankees won two world championships, the New Jersey Devils won two Stanley Cups, and the New Jersey Nets twice won the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. Wentworth is a founder and managing principal of Normandy Real Estate Partners, a $2 billion discretionary fund that acquires and invests in commercial real estate properties, primarily in the Boston to Washington corridor. Among the firm’s key acquisitions has been the Boston’s iconic John Hancock Tower, and the National Press Building in Washington, DC. A philanthropist and community improvement activist, Wentworth has served in leadership positions on several nonprofit organization boards in the New York Metropolitan area. He has served as Chairman for the Foundation of Morristown Medical Center, ranked as the #1 Hospital in New Jersey.

James Metzger

 

James C. "Jim" Metzger is an American businessman and philanthropist. He is the founder, chairman and CEO of The Whitmore Group, Ltd., a leading Long Island insurance brokerage and financial services firm that opened during 1989. Metzger is a former All-American lacrosse player at Hofstra University. Metzger grew up in Melville, New York, where his success as an athlete in the early part of his life was a strong influence on his later approach to business. His personal blog is titled "Everything I ever needed to know about business I learned on the sports field." Sports during the early years of his life also had a major impact on the focus of Metzger's philanthropy. Metzger is a frequent donor to educational, charitable and other organizations in the communities where he, clients and employees work and live in the New York metropolitan area. Philanthropic efforts include his high school and college alma maters, Half Hollow Hills and Hofstra University. St. Anthony's High School, near where Metzger was raised, also has received contributions for its sports program. Among the many additional organizations supported by Metzger and his company are Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island (BBBSLI), the Funeral Service Foundation (FSA), the American Heart Association, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the New York City YMCA and the Hempstead PAL Lacrosse Program.
